AUTUMN MARKET UPDATE
28 May 2026
THIS WEEKβS WET WEATHER
Fruit & veg needs water to grow but once picked, any constant moisture and humidity leads produce to break down more quickly. Please be mindful that delicate products eg Basil & Chives won't last as long as usual this week.
LOCALLY GROWN VEGETABLES
From Kale to Beetroot to Garlic it's all outstanding! I had to take a video!
In season vegetables - take your pick!
STRAWBERRIES
Are coming from Queensland. They are more expensive but look and taste amazing so are worth it!
CORN
Very much in season. Price, quality and supply all good.
TREVISO LETTUCE
Has started to arrive, but only Monday to Friday.
EGGPLANT
Loads in the market.
MANDARINS
Plentiful and although there are lots of different varieties, I still like the Imperials the best.

Impact of Fuel & Fertiliser Shortages on Fresh Produce Prices
We have seen produce prices increasing and this will continue with the ongoing uncertainty of when the conflict in the Middle East will end. Farmers are grappling with the viability of planting crops due to the fuel and fertiliser shortages. These media articles provide deeper insight into the crisis:
