WINTER MARKET UPDATE
19 August 2026
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Tomatoes: All the regular retail varieties are available. Specialty varieties are a problem. It is winter, so they are out of season. Smaller farmers grow these varieties. They don't have massive glasshouses or it's not economical for northern Australian growers to freight them to Sydney. We therefore have to wait for the warmer weather.
Pomegranates: The Australian season has finished and the last of cold storage supplies have been used. USA fruit is still to arrive, so there is currently a gap in supply.
CELERIAC
Loves the winter so supply and quality are very good.
BEETROOT
Red, Gold and Target have quite good availability. Saturdays can be difficult, however. Turnips & Dutch Carrots are quite abundant too.
ZUCCHINI FLOWERS
At the moment the growers seem to have more available than normal. This is for both Female & Male options, so price has dropped and quality is excellent.
QUINCES
Still available but nearing the end, so make the most while still good.
